Here is a chronological list of events within easy reach of Casalba. (This page is under construction, but if I don’t make some sort of start now, another year will pass before I get my head around it.)
MAY:
- San Vittore is the patron saint of our village and we celebrate on the nearest weekend to his saint day: 8th May.
- ‘Cantine aperte’. Last weekend in May. This is when all the local wine producers open their doors and let you taste their wines.
JULY/AUGUST:
- Open Air Opera Festival in the Roman amphitheatre of Macerata. Macerata. Mid July to mid August.
AUGUST:
Nearly every local town and village celebrates something during this period. Here is a sample of the most important/those we’ve attended.
- International Folklore Festival Staffolo – 10 minutes by car. 1st Sunday and preceding Saturday and Friday evenings. This is organised by Colle dei Verdicchio.
- Mercatini in Centro Storico. Cingoli. Every Tuesday evening. Stalls of all types line the streets in the medieval town of Cingoli. These are mainly ‘bric a brac’/antiques/artisan jewellery, etc.
- Cingoli 1848 Cingoli – 10 kms 1st weekend of August. Historic re-enactment of the ball game ‘Pallone al Bracciale’ set in the mid 1800s. The festivities last four days and terminate in a procession of people in period costume. Here is the official link.

SEPTEMBER:
OCTOBER:
- Sagra dell’Uva. Cupramontana. Distance from Casalba: 10 mins by car. Early October. Well organised event to celebrate the end of the grape harvest. (Here is the official website.)
- I Tesori del Bosco. Cingoli. Distance from Casalba: 10 minutes. Early/Mid October. Guided walk in the woods by botanical experts who will help you identify edible plants and fungi. Exhibition in the main square of Cingoli of fungi and truffles. Plenty of stalls selling local produce.
